Days 9 and 10
Day nine at crush core once again
started with the daily 7:45 AM meeting with the three supervisors. Joe reported
to Ryan stating that the fabrication department is running very smoothly right
now because of the recent start up of second shift. Second shift was shut down
once Covid hit, but just recently within the past week second shift started
back up again. This has made a huge improvement in the number of manufactured
parts to get to assembly. Butch, on the other hand is having a lot of trouble
in assembly because he cannot get workers to show up and actually assemble the
products. The rest of day nine was pretty slow because all I did was pull more
folders to send out for jobs. Not all of the folders are always there because
the same part number could be in a job from the previous week so then I have to
track down the missing folder and find the right one to put the tag in for this
week’s job.
On Wednesday, day 10, Ryan let me
go a little bit early because it was the day of the district championship for baseball.
Ryan’s son is a pitcher at Penn State and played in the state championship in
high school so Ryan is very familiar with high school baseball and what it
takes to win. After the meeting in the morning we walked through assembly line
8 and talked to Johnny, Diane, Georgia, Dennis, Andy, Brenda, and Bobby. Ryan
is in charge of line 8 so every day after the morning meeting we walked through
to check in with everybody. Also on Wednesday I had my check in with Ms.
Yudovina and my mentor. After the check in Ryan had me research why his pool is
not very clear yet and I found that he needed less chlorine. Then I ate lunch
and went home to prepare for the baseball game which we won. Hockey baseball
has only one additional championship three times before this year so it was
pretty historic.
