Days 7 and 8

Days 7 started with the daily 7:45 meeting with each of the three supervisors. Bob, the supervisor of clean and pack and material handling was out on vacation on day 7 so Ryan and I did a short walk through of his area to cover for him. Whenever we walk through a department or an assembly line, we go through and talk to everybody working to make sure they have the parts and equipment needed, and check in on how everything is going. After the morning meeting and walk through line 8, there was a meeting with Joe the fab supervisor, Ryan, Ronnie and Frank the programmers, and all of the press brake operators. This meeting was held so that everyone could be on the same page with how the operation is supposed to be run with the two new machines and new programs. After the meeting with the press brake operators we checked in with Scott, one of the assemblers of the refrigerators about the foaming process and where he was at with that.

Day 8, which was a Monday had the daily morning meeting and then the weekly scheduling meeting. The scheduling meetings are very boring for myself because it takes about an hour and there are zero interesting topics discussed in the scheduling meetings. The vice president (who went to Hawken), director of engineering, scheduling guy, CFO, and director of operations (Ryan), are all in this meeting. In this meeting, everyone is looking at a spreadsheet and goes through it and makes sure there are no conflicts with anyone’s schedule during the week. Along with the scheduling meeting, I filled out a Cres Cor application to make sure the system was still working since they were not receiving many applications even though there is a large number of signs and advertising stating that Cres Cor is hiring. The assembly department is really struggling to find good workers, and especially someone that can pass a drug test.
